Burin Island

The passage between Burin Island and the main peninsula provides a great sheltered location for kayakers to enjoy the natural surroundings.

Outside Burin Island

More experienced paddlers can do a half day trip that is a circumnavigation of Burin Island. During the trip we stop at Shalloway to rest, have a lunch and even do a short hike.

Duricle

A half day trip from Little Bay will see you arrive at Duricle. Long resettled, this isolated beach is perfect for photographers.

Fox Cove

Fox Cove is a very popular paddling location. At low tide you can maneuver your kayak through the rock gardens as you approach Garrison Point.

Little Bay

Little Bay is situated on the southern shore of Mortier Bay. It is full of history. Many of Newfoundland's harbours still have traditional wharves and stages.

Mortier

Picture yourself in the historic community of Mortier. Kayak is the perfect vehicle to explore Newfoundland's scenic coastline. We leave from the beach at Fox Cove and arrive at Mortier 30 minutes later.

Shalloway

Catch a tidal race as you move out to see what conditions are like on Placentia Bay. Shalloway is just an hour from the launch site at Collins' Cove.

Spanish Room

Finish the day with a sense of accomplishment as you make your way back to the calm waters of Spanish Room. What a way to end the day!

These paddlers are participating in a Level 1 Sea Kayak course offered through Paddle Canada. Later they will head out to do rescue drills.

Near Croney Island

Cliffs and caves abound. It's a humbling experience to move up to a sheer rock wall rising vertically from the sea.

This group is enjoying the breath-taking scenery at "The Cape". This is one of the most popular tours on Fortune Bay.

Swift Current

Here are some kayakers that have rafted up for a rest before heading back to Swift Current. Garden Cove can be seen in the background.

Long Shore Gardens

This shoreline will lead you from Little Bay to Sandy Point and beyond. The half day tour from here brings you to Duricle.

This group is about to embark on a journey to Gould's Cove on the eastern side of Mortier Bay.

Students in a Level 1 Course are given some pointers on navigation before heading out on the bay.
